fame and recognition are so attractive that most of us are pursuing them desperately. we admire those who become famous at a young age and we hope the same thing will happen to us.
however, an important fact has been neglected: talent and good chance are the main factors for an early success. most young people are not geniuses, so young people should be encouraged to pursue long term, realistic goals rather than seek immediate fame and recognition.
only in the process of pursuing long term, realistic goals can knowledge be accumulated. some young people always complain, "i am not successful just because i don't have good chance." but a famous saying tells us; chance only patronize people who have got preparation.
without accumulation of knowledge, how can one achieve his life goal or grasp the good chance? knowledge is power. albert einstein, such a genius, had returned to university to learn math related to physics for seven years before he wrote his theory.
and secondly, one can become mature and persistent in the process of pursuing long-term, realistic goals. the way of pursuing long term goals is a rough one. but only through many setbacks and failures, can one become tougher and more persistent so that he/she wouldn't get frustrated easily in later time or even get prepared to confront another setback. such persistent spirit is vital in one's success. i remember a famous person once said, "one must endure great loneliness while pursuing his goal." people who experience this process tend to be more mature. they are likely to hold steering wheel of their life firmly because they are clearly aware of what they really want in life.
furthermore, an early success may be dangerous. young people with fame and recognition tend to get lost. as a famous saying goes, "you live with a fame and you will learn to limp."fame is like a heavy burden pressed on your shoulder. young people are often unable to release the burden correctly. some of them release themselves in extreme ways such as taking drug or getting drunk. hollywood movie star, july barymoore, is one of them. she got famous at the age of eight, then she took drug and often got drunk and was sent to prison twice. "i felt i was in a black hole and i completely lost my direction at that time." she recalled.
young people lack vital factors for success like knowledge and experience. moreover, they are not mature enough to endure failures, setbacks and heavy burdens. they are not sober enough to resist the temptation when they got fame and recognition. in short, young people should be encouraged to pursue long-term,realistic goals rather than seek immediate fame and recognition.
